Extra help to get you started!
What is Skype?
Skype is a video-call software program available free of charge from Microsoft here.
How do I get setup?
It’s easy! You just need a webcam and mic or a device with these built in (most laptops, phones and tablets work). Just install Skype, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Can I cancel a Skype guitar lesson
If you need to modify or cancel your booking please provide sufficient notice by contacting your guitar teacher. Generally 48 hours for Skype lessons, otherwise you may be charged in full. Please ask your teacher to confirm the notice required.
How do I pay for my Skype guitar lessons?
Payment is made via PayPal (you don’t need a PayPal account) due in advance of the lesson, unfortunately we cannot accept cheques due to fraud. Card payments can be accepted at our Burgess Hill location if requested in advance.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes, we sell physical vouchers we mail out and digital vouchers that you can email or print out yourself. Postage cost may apply for international orders of digital vouchers. All Guitarlearn vouchers can be used towards any type of tuition subject to availability.
Troubleshooting and Tech Tips
Can I record my Skype lessons?
Yes! We offer the option to have your Skype lesson recorded for you but if you’re a little tech savvy you can record it yourself.
See here for examples of software: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12395/how-can-i-record-my-skype-calls
Can I use Mac for Skype?
Yes! Skype is cross platform so it doesn’t matter whether you use a Mac, Android, iOS or Windows device. It should work the same!
Do you have any more advice on getting the best setup?
If using a phone, we recommend putting it on a stand.
High quality headphones or speakers also recommended.
If you experience any connection issues, we recommend using a wired connection and also using a broadband speed test before the lesson.
We recommend you test your broadband and view our Skype FAQ and tips page.
